The district of Rottal-Inn with its 31 cities and municipalities is located in the state of Bavaria and directly on the border with Austria. The insturiell little developed county is characterized primarily by agriculture and forests and green spaces. Agriculture as well as tourism are also the biggest economic factors. Unlike most counties in the south of Bavaria, the landscape is rather hilly and, despite its proximity to the Alps, is not yet mountainous or alpine.
