Bonn is best known because it was the seat of government of the Federal Republic of Germany to the 1999th. Today here are still some federal ministries located. The city, which lies on both sides of the Rhine was home to the former lords of Cologne, whose rococo style buildings can still be found in the city today. The city also offers many churches, including the Baptistery church of Ludwig van Beethoven in whose honour every year in autumn a four-week music festival is held.
