The independent city of Augsburg is located in southwestern Bavaria and is the seat of government of the district of Swabia. It is the third largest city in the state of Bavaria. Already at the time of the Roman Empire, a city existed here, making Augsburg one of the oldest in Germany. Accordingly, there is a lot of historical relevance in Augsburg from 2000 years of history. The location on three rivers (Lech, Wertach and Lingold) have always favored the economic situation of the city. Nevertheless, about 30% of the city area consists of green areas, which makes Augsburg touristically - regardless of its history - very interesting. Cross-border Augsburg is known, inter alia, by the "Augsburger Puppenkiste" and the large-scale industry located here, for example the machine and vehicle factory MAN.
