Monchengladbach is located in the west of North Rhine Westphalia close to the state capital Dusseldorf. The town was formerly known primarily for the textile industry, which still plays an important role along with mechanical and electrical engineering. Together with the city of Krefeld Monchengladbach offers its residents a variety of operas, operettas, musicals and plays.
