With almost 40.000 inhabitants Freital is the bigest city in the district. The city offers an extensive cultural offering. In addition to annual events such as the medieval fair at Easter and the traditional Christmas market, especially the castle has a mining museum and an art exhibition. In addition to agriculture also other businesses are represented in Freital mainly in the pharmaceutical, metalworking and plastics technology.
