The locals call the approximately 20 km south of Dresden located city affectionately "Dipps". The city is one of the three largest in the district. Dippoldiswalde is especially known for its historic town center with the many late Gothic buildings like the Town Hall or the castle where the musician association holds an annual festival with many international artists.
