The county and university town Meschede is located in the heart of the Sauerland. With a population of almost 32.000, it is the district town of the Hochsauerlandkreis. The city of Henne and Ruhr is very popular as a place to live and work, as beside many small and medium-sized companies also world market leaders as well as the University of Applied Sciences Südwestfalen have their headquarters here. With the name Meschede, the Hennesee is inextricably linked with its many leisure activities. The core town of Meschede also includes 22 living areas and active districts. The central location makes Meschede easy to reach either by car (motorway connection A46) or train.
