The district town of Riesa is located west of the river Elbe and is one of the most populous cities in the county. Influenced by the steel industry for centuries, the city of Riesa has been transformed into a city of sports with numerous sports clubs, event centers and even intensive training centers. Due to a well established public transportation system and shipping on the river Elbe, Riesa has become an interesting spot for companies.
