Grossenhain, a district town located in Meissen county, consists of five districts and is known as a „friendly city in the verdancy“ because of its beautiful landscape. Grossenhain was host to the national horticultural show in 2002, a special event showing flora and fauna of the federal state of Saxony. The city, which used to be a garisson town, was first mentioned back in 1205. Its core industries nowadays are the automotive-, aircraft- and glass industry as well as several service providers located at the newly built industrial park close to the airport Grossenhain.
