The district capital Coswig consists of six districts and is located in the northern part of Meissen county, close to the river Elbe. Coswig is located in the neighborhood of Radebeul which merges into the city of Dresden. Therefore, public transport connection by tram, especially to Dresden, is very good. Coswig is seen as an open-minded, tolerant city and was given an award by the German government in 2009 for being a „place of diversity“.
