The city of Wuerselen is located directly on the main motorway junction of the  StaedteRegion Aachen, which has attracted several industrial, commercial and service companies in many industrial and commercial areas. Due to the complete destruction during the Second World War, only a few historical buildings have been preserved in Wurselen, although the town was first mentioned in 870 A.D.. Only Wilhelmstein Castle -  a venue for many concerts and events - was preserved. Wuerselen is also well-known and of interest to tourists because of the so-called "May Games", which are celebrated every year in the 19 municipalities and districts, with the streets elaborately decorated for this event.
