The city of Stolberg in the StaedteRegion Aachen owes its economic boom and status to the metalworking industry, which is also officially part of the name as "Kupferstadt Stolberg". With the river "Vichtbach" and situated in the midst of a nature reserve, Stolberg is well-known for its well-preserved medieval old town with the castle Stolberg, which attracts many tourists to the city every year. In addition to the existing metal processing, the chemical and glass industries are based in Stolberg. Because of its location, Stolberg is a base for several broadcasting towers for radio and television stations as well as for mobile phone networks.
