In the north of the district of Harburg, the municipality adjacents to the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The municipality is named after the Rosengarten, a forest of the same name, with its elevations (up to 155 meters above sea level), gorges and magnificent mixed forests. Due to its geographical and topographic location, the municipality is a preferred recreational area. The recreation with many hotels and restaurants is an essential economic factor. The municipality has a good infrastructure with kindergardens, various schools, libraries, Sports facilities, doctors and shopping facilities. Particularly attractive and a highlight are the Black Mountains with magnificent hiking trails. Points of interest include the Hochwild-Schutzpark Black Montains and the open-air museum Kiekeberg with the Landtechnisches Museum and the Agrarium.
