The municipality of Salzhausen is located 35km south of the metropolitan area of Hamburg. In addition to Salzhausen with Luhmuehlen, Oelstorf and Putensen, also Eyendorf, Goedenstorf with Luebberstedt, Garlstorf, Toppenstedt with Tangendorf, Wulfsen, Garstedt and Vierhoefen are part of the municipality .
