The city of Burgstädt is located in Mittelachsen and is administratively combined in the administrative municipality Burgstädt. It has existed under the same name since around 1200 AD. For long mostly influenced by agriculture and farming the processing industry in the food and textile industry has also developed over the years. The textile industry, in particular, grew in the course of industrialization and shaped the historical cityscape. With several parks and recreational areas, Burgstädt is today a popular place of residence, whose population does not fall despite the rural location, which is rather unusual in the region.
