The city of Flöha is located in the district of Mittelsachsen and borders directly on the city of Chemnitz. She had a very long agricultural character. Due to the proximity to Chemnitz this changed in the course of industrialization. Originally only in the form of cotton spinning factories, it developed into an industrial location. The focus was still on the textile industry. In the course of German reunification and the following years, the industry in Flöha fell sharply, so that today the city is primarily a residence for people working in nearby Chemnitz.
