Federal states > Lower Saxony

Geography: Lower Saxony is the second largest federal state in Germany regarding the surface. The state capital is Hannover. The country borders the North Sea and the Elbe in the north and the Netherlands in the west. Around 82 % of the area consists of forest and agricultural areas.

Culture: Hannover is a fair city. With the IAA Commercial Vehicles trade fair, CeBIT and Expo some of the world's largest trade fairs take place there. Lower Saxony has a lot of culture and holds four UNESCO World Heritages including the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea.

Economy: Lower Saxony hosts the headquarters for several major German companies such as Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg and Continental AG in Hannover. The economy consists of mainly automobile and steel industries as well as machinery and plant engineering.
