Geography: Thuringia is a relatively small state in the middle of Germany. The state capital is Erfurt. The landscape varies between the resin and the hilly green valley of the river Helme.

Culture: To Thuringia belongs the city Weimar which is the former home of the famous German poets Goethe and Schiller. A visit to this city is obligatory program at nearly all German schools. The state offers a great architectural diversity, from Romanticism through Baroque to Modern.

Economy: Of particular importance for Thuringia are especially the industries of microelectronics and medical engineering. The international company Carl Zeiss is headquartered here but also glass, ceramics and toys are made here.
