Geography: Brandenburg is located in northeastern Germany, the capital is Potsdam. The state borders on Poland and hosts a Sorbian settlement area with 28 communities. Compared to the other countries Brandenburg is sparsely populated and is home to large forest areas, such as the Spreewald and natural lakes.

Culture: The state is particularly well known for the Babelsberg Film Studios, where many German films and series are produced. Furthermore known is the Sanssouci Palace, which was built on the model of the French Versailes and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Economy: Brandenburg is home to one of the most important biotechnology locations in Europe. Around 160 companies have their research centeres in this state.
